Laser safety, educational information for all.

We often get asked the question what is a Class 1 laser and why is this important?

Answering this question on the surface seems simple, enclose the laser and it should stop when I open the enclosure. However in reality there is a lot more going on in the background to make sure a laser cutter is safe in all foreseeable scenarios.

Considering most of the information and regulations are publicly available. We decided to create a fact based and sourced, non bias website which lays out the requirements set out by the European union.

A little web update.

As a result of our move and covid 19, the development of the FabPro has slowed, however the first unit is still busy at work and recently the Passthrough feature has been used in order to make measuring tools for kids at home :)

Bigger, faster and more powerful the FabKit is back :D The new design can house a 40w or 60w CO2 laser allowing you to increase your cutting speed. In order to house the new 1150mm 60w CO2 laser we had to increase the FabKits dimensions. The new FabKit is now 1266x816x503mm (WxDxH) This increase in outer frame allows for a larger cutting area now 800x500x130mm. The FabKit now makes use of 3 high speed closed loop stepper servos allowing for faster and more precise movements. Rotary 4th axis, passthrough options remain and we have also included an indicator output for use with an external beacon, especially useful if you plan to use the passthrough feature and want a visual warning for the entrance to the room its being operated in. Currently its only available with the Ruida with LightBurn controller as we search for a replacement for the smoothieboard v1 (which is now out of production) However we plan to offer a choice between the LightBurn solution or an opensource solution. The machine is almost ready to be delivered, a few things left; Finishing and printing the manual, design and printing of the information and warning machine stickers. Testing and complying optimal settings for the firmware. If you have any questions about the new FabKit contact Sales@fabcreator.com

With a larger selection of FabCreator machines on offer and a growing community of makers busy creating all over europe, we have been searching for the best way to support you directly and indirectly via community forums and email tickets. Today we launch the the community.fabcreator.com (discourse) site. Sign in with Facebook, Google or create a separate account with your email. We hope the new site is a great place to share your creations and ask questions. It make take some time to (re)grow the community base and content, so we are planning to hold some competitions to help simulate it :D

Since the beginning of our venture we always knew we would end up with 3 classes of systems, opensource DIY kit, entry level professional and "The full works, extra large"! Well the FabPro is shaping up to be our all the works extra large laser! Interchangeable beds, pass though, pass under, integrated touch screen pc with lighburn, high speed servos and many more features we will introduce you to later ;)
